More Than Colorful Pictures – cross-ING Delivers Comprehensive Problem Solving Beyond Simulation. Simulations can be a powerful tool – for error analysis, design optimization, or a better understanding of processes.But a simulation in isolation will not deliver the right results. Its significance largely depends on the input parameters – ideally based on reliable measurement data.
At cross-ING, we don’t just run simulations. We guide you throughout the entire project: Which parameters are relevant? Do they need to be collected (by cross-ING)? Which models best represent the problem? How can the results be validated against real data?
We follow a clear principle: As simple as possible, as complex as necessary. That means starting with the simplest model that can provide sufficient answers – saving you both time and money.
“Every model is wrong”: Models and simulations always simplify reality. The key is to define which simplifications are acceptable while still contributing to an effective solution.
This Approach Led Our Client to Success
Our client faced a persistent challenge in a silo: frequent blockages prevented material flow. To tackle the issue, we identified the right simulation software and organized experimental investigations required for calibrating the model.
We chose the open-source software LIGGGHTS as the best option for our client. This gave them full control over the tool, the ability to run simulations locally, and an easy way to archive results.
To reproduce the problem, we ran targeted simulations. But we didn’t stop there. True to our principle of cross-engineering, we reviewed the results together with the client, highlighted the design’s weak points, and jointly developed possible solutions. A cross-ING engineer then translated the chosen solution into a concrete new design.
From problem to finished design: we delivered not just simulation results, but a tangible solution to the client’s challenge.
