ISO GPS: The Key to Clear and Robust Product Definitions

Switching to the international ISO GPS standard (Geometrical Product Specification, also known as GD&T) is a crucial step toward consistent and precise product definitions. ISO GPS replaces outdated and often ambiguous drawing practices with a geometry-based system for the complete description of components.

With ISO 8015, form, orientation, and size tolerances are clearly defined – often directly in the CAD model for 3D model–based manufacturing. This prevents misunderstandings in production and quality control, while enabling automated processes such as digital measurement strategies and simulation-based tolerance analysis. The digital continuity of the 3D model also avoids data breaks, since information no longer needs to be read manually and transferred into CAM or metrology systems.

The Competence Center Design for Excellence (DfX) supports your company in adopting the ISO GPS standard – from hands-on training to mandate-based consulting, helping you align processes, tools, and interfaces with the new requirements.

Our goal: not just compliance with the standard, but unlocking its full value – with clearly defined product requirements, fewer misinterpretations, and greater efficiency across the entire product lifecycle.
